For a growing number of people, questions such as
- Who am I?
- Where did I come from?
- What made me the person I am today?
hold an increasing fascination. The popularity of TV programmes such as "Who do you think you are?" serves to drive this interest but for most people whilst enjoying the format of such a program it is difficult to understand how we as mere mortals could manage such a complicated and costly research into our own family history.
Well fear not, the 30 plus members of our Family History group exist to prove that it can be done.
We are a self help group with a wide range of individual experiences we support each other in determining answers to exactly the questions posed above. Our meetings provide an informed and friendly environment to allow members irrespective of their individual experience levels to develop their own family tree.
In addition, we are pleased to invite speakers from outside the group to present their own individual experiences as was the case this month when Mike Rendell gave a splendid insight into life in Georgian London and the Cotswolds through the most detailed of records provided by one of his ancestors who lived between 1729 and 1801.
Other such presentations are scheduled in the coming months some involving outside speakers and some from within the membership, so in short if anyone would like begin to better understand their own heritage please come along and start the process with the Family History Group.
