Members who come to the Foodies group not only love food, but are equally interested in the constituents of food, where it is sourced, understand the nutritional value and how to preserve and store as well as cook food, to present it so that it not only pleases the eye, but also satisfies the appetite. We also can learn to appreciate foods from different continents and climates and how to incorporate them into our daily diet.
You do not have to be a gourmet cook to join us! We are not a dining out group; nor are we a cookery class. The group endeavours each month, to have a different topic. For example we have an eclectic mix of nationalities in our group and we could have a discussion/demonstration of food from a different country. Or a talk about specific ingredients or a cookery demonstration from an expert chef. We try and vary each meeting, to make it interesting and different. Also importantly, we like to keep our meetings enjoyable to all. So input from members is always welcome.
The next meeting of the Foodies will take place on Thursday 17th May at 11:30.
It is yet to be officially confirmed, but I am hoping it is going to take place at an Indian restaurant (Ghurka Palace) and we will be having a demonstration of some genuine southern Indian cooking. I will confirm this as soon as possible.
The June meeting (on 21st June) is going to take place in my garden (on the Montgo) where we will have an end of year gathering. The theme may be an oyster tasting party, but we have yet to finalize this, as some of you may prefer a different theme.
There are no meetings in July and August.
All members of the Foodies group are welcome to bring a guest, as long as you inform me beforehand.
